Plant Irises at BREC Blackwater Conservation Area
Wednesday, October 7, 8 to 11 am
BREC Blackwater Conservation Area
In an effort to restore the natural habitat to this former
gravel excavation area, volunteers will be planting four varieties of irises:
Copper Iris, Giant Blue Iris, Zigzag Iris, and Nelson’s Water Iris. The morning will begin with a short
information session. Planting will be in muddy areas, so boots,
gloves and blue jeans will be necessary.
In the Spring everyone will enjoy the iris blooms which will be an obvious sign that
the area is returning to its natural beauty.
Paperwork and a background check are required of BREC
volunteers.
