MEETING: Matthew Herron of the Capital...REMINDER:

MEETING: Matthew Herron of the Capital Area Native Plant Society will speak on local plants that may be endangered at 7 p.m., Thursday at the Backpacker, 7656 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge. Refreshments will be provided. Matthew will also discuss possible field trips as a follow up to his talk. Feel free to bring a guest. Admission is free.

HIKE:

The Clark Creek Hike planned for last Saturday was re-scheduled for this Saturday, Feb. 28 due to the threat of rain (that never came) last week.

Carpool will depart from the parking lot of Trader Joe's at 9 a.m. Anticipated trail head start will be at 10:30 a.m.

Peggy Reilly & Barrett Kennedy will lead the hike which will be on the primitive trail. For those interested in a less challenging trail, there is an improved trail that will still take you to the different waterfalls.

Boots are recommended for the primitive trail because of the muddy conditions on some parts of the trail. After the hike, there are a number of affordable restaurants in St. Francisville if you don't have to rush back home. Also, check http://brsierraclub.blogspot.com/ for updates on the hike.

For more information, go to the website for the Clark Creek Nature Area: http://www.mdwfp.com/parks-destinations/ms-state-parks/clark-creek.aspx

Call Nancy Grush at (225) 938-9353 or email her at nancygrush@gmail.com for additional questions.

Hope to see you! Even if it doesn't rain while we're actually on the trail, I'm afraid the rain expected to fall tonight will make the trail too slippery/muddy. See you next Saturday. :-)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17164455637743093713noreply@blogger.com
